Archery South Africa is the overall controlling body for all formal archery activities in South Africa. It is the only Archery body which is recognized and registered with the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and the Department of Sports and Recreation.

Previously known as the Council for Archery Sport (CAS), the National Federation and unifying body officially changed it's name to more accurately reflect the sport, its mandate and the country on 1 April 2008.

The Archery South Africa committee consists of the representatives of the South African National Archery Association (SANAA), The South African National Indoor and Field Archery Association (SANIFAA) and an archery representative of the South African Sports for the Physically Disabled (SASPD).

Archery South Africa ensures that the standards of formal archery are consistent and sustainable and is a vital link between the sport and the sporting authorities in the country.

Archery South Africa plays a significant role in many respects, especially when our elite archers participate in international events. Protea colours are awarded to the elite archers when competing internationally. These honours are controlled by Archery South Africa and issued by the South African Colours Board.

Archery South Africa is an affiliate of SASCOC and is represented on the SASCOC President Council. The three national associations affiliated to Archery South Africa and form the sub-bodies are: The South African National Indoor and Field Archery Association (SANIFAA), The South African Archery Association (SANAA) and The Archery section of the South African Society for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD).
